The school year must include at least 194 school days, including 3 PA days for provincial education priorities. Boards may designate up to 4 additional PA days and use up to 10 instructional days for exams.
Ontario Day remains an instructional day. The Ministry’s school-year calendar page states:
“Ontario Day, which is observed on June 1 of every year, or on the Friday preceding if June 1 falls on a Saturday or Sunday, remains an instructional day in all schools.”

Common questions
Could a PA day affect the return after March break?
Yes. March break is scheduled for Monday, March 15 to Friday, March 19, 2027, covering 5 weekdays. The calendar gives no return date; this site calculates Monday, March 22, 2027 as the first weekday after the break that the calendar does not list as a day off. A board may schedule a PA day after the break, delaying the first day back. The break table shows the calculated first day back after the provincial break; compare it with the relevant board calendar for the school’s own arrangements.
Where do the local school calendars fit into this page?

What confirms the Thanksgiving entry?
The Ministry’s school-year calendar prints Thanksgiving dates, while Ontario’s retail business holidays page states the calendar rule. The key-dates table reflects that published support. The Employment Standards Act names the holiday without supplying that rule itself.
